How do you ask someone to be part of your wedding entourage? I know of a bride who had to organize a little party for her five prospective bridesmaids and very early on gave each one of them a friendship vase when she asked. It was a great tactic….because you can’t normally turn down someone waiting for your answer when she has a gift for you (she wasn’t going to be turned down anyway, her bridesmaids all love her).
But what if, for the sake of discussion, the bride isn’t sure she’s going to get a yes from her prospect?
The most obvious thing to do would, of course, be to ask that person directly. Without any fanfare or hoopla, you can go ahead and pop the question, so to speak. But if you really want to make this more memorable and creative, you can —-
1. Send out a card to your possible bridesmaids.
2. Send out a card with flowers.
3. Treat her to lunch and then ask.
4. Treat her to a movie and then ask.
5. Pamper them at the nail spa and then ask.
This sounds as though you have to woo your bridesmaid or bribe them to say yes. Think of it this way instead: you will need all the help you can get preparing your wedding. If you show your bridesmaids some appreciation early on by doing this, then you can be assured of help all the way, until your wedding day.
