9582223_1687e445ba_mThe bride and groom is asking you to deliver a speech on their wedding day. Have you prepared for it? It’s a good idea to write down your speech in advance, read through it a couple of times over and if possible, memorize it so that the flow and gist of your speech is organized and coherent.

As you stand there, holding the gold rimmed toasting glass, remember these other tips as well, so that you don’t end up making a wedding blunder.

  • Never, ever make a speech when you’re drunken and tipsy. If there is an open bar and you would like to enjoy that, take patience and do the drinking after you’ve made your speech. When you’re drunk, you may blurt out the wrong things and embarrass everyone, or have your speech all slurry, nobody can even understand you.
  • Never make any negative comments. Don’t like the food? Keep it to yourself. This is a time for celebrating, not for indulging complaints and biases.
  • Never blurt out secrets you know about the couple. Are they getting married because she’s pregnant and isn’t telling everyone yet? Don’t be the first to spill the beans, not when they don’t want the bride’s very conservative grandmother to find out.
