Can you imagine walking down the aisle and instead of carrying a bunch of flowers, you’re holding garlic, herbs and grains?Ugh!! And people actually thought that was pretty back in the old days. I don’t think that would have been a perfect picture framed on this silver picture frame!
Well, I’m glad people back then later on came to their senses and started replacing all that with real flowers. These were all part of wedding traditions in the past where the garlic was thought to ward off evil spirits, the herbs or the grains are meant to make sure the couple would have a successful marriage, blessed with kids.
Today, flowers are used to adorn the whole wedding environment – the walk down the aisle, the bride’s bouquet as well as the reception tables. The bride also throws her bouquet to her bridesmaids and whosoever catches it supposedly will be the next to marry.
Ah, traditions! What will we do without them? They add a mixture of romance and mystery and fun to every occasion. The best part is keeping those traditions alive through generations and watching our children do the same things we did when we were younger, but maybe just crazier than we ever were?
